Longview Animal Care and Adoption Center

Apply to Volunteer!

LACAC has many opportunities for volunteering, and each volunteer is able to work at their own pace. The bulk of our volunteers are needed for dog walking to provide socialization and increase adoptability during their stay at our shelter. We also have our cat cuddlers, event teams, and back-of-the house care. Once a volunteer application is approved, candidates must attend an hour-long orientation at the shelter. These orientations are scheduled once a month and in advance. After candidates attend this orientation, they must go through a training session with a senior volunteer to learn things hands-on. We have shifts every day of the week except for Mondays. Tuesday through Saturday, the shifts are 830 a.m.–11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.–4 p.m. On Sundays, there is only an AM shift. All volunteers must be 13 years of age or older to participate. Anyone ages 13–17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during their shift.

**Please note that court-ordered community service cannot be accommodated through our volunteer program.

**The Volunteer program at Longview Animal Care and Adoption Center is not an employment opportunity.
